Setting up Linux
The Linux Operating System comes in many flavors and by flavor I mean families. Actually, it’s a huge family!
Of course, when you think about Linux, it’s not all about Linux, when you put it under a magnifying glass, you can see that it’s combined by GNU Project (Richard Stallman) and Kernel (Linus Torvalds).
As you can see the part of the family here,
- Arch Linux
- Manjaro
- Debian
- Ubuntu
- Elementary OS
- Red Hat
- Fedora
- Gentoo
- MX Linux
As you can see above. Let say for example Debian. You can think Debian as a father or mother distribution and Ubuntu and Elementary OS are the children.
We are most familiar with the Arch and Debian Family. So later on this tutorial or documentation, we speak only Arch or Debian, not the derivatives.
